The challenge with intimate theatre is that every seat is the front row. There’s no distance between the audience and the performance — which means there’s no distance between the camera and everything it shouldn’t be blocking.
ForThe Shark Is Broken, the Olivier Award-nominated and WhatsOnStage Award-winning play co-written by Ian Shaw, son of Jaws star Robert Shaw, we built a rig that vanished. Multi-camera, fly-away setup at The Lighthouse in Poole - designed around the claustrophobia of the piece rather than fighting it. Broadway World said the result gave viewers the feeling of being aboard the Orca itself.
